History
1995
The first class of Leadership Harrison County imagined a trail system to embrace Corydon’s location at the confluence of two branches of Indian Creek. Local groups including Purdue Extension and the Town of Corydon worked with businesses and residents to advance the concept and form the nonprofit Indian Creek Trail, Inc.
2001
A $15,000 grant from the Harrison County Community Foundation funded the construction of Logan’s Trail, connecting Mulberry Street to Rice Island.
2004
The Doolittle section of the trail, connecting Highway 62 to the new YMCA, was constructed with a federal Department of Transportation grant and matching support from Harrison County, the Harrison County Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Doolittle family.
2012
Leadership from county government helped assemble funding from Lucas Oil, the Harrison County Community Foundation, and INDOT to build a section of trail in Hayswood Park. The Old Rothrock Mill Bridge was restored and relocated to cross the Indian Creek near the site of a historical ford.
2019
With funding from the Harrison County, the Harrison County Community Foundation, and the Town of Corydon, the Harrison County Parks and Highways Departments spearheaded the connection of the Hayswood and Doolittle sections. The Valley View Road truss bridge was rehabilitated and relocated to create a continuous 3.6-mile trail from Hayswood Nature Reserve to the YMCA.
